Facilities, Dining & Access

A brief guide to historic stay, dining, and travel directions.

Facilities🎌・Historic Stay

From a daimyo family to a count’s family, and now a traditional Japanese inn. The history of “Ohana” began as the residence of the Tachibana family, lords of the Yanagawa domain during the Edo period. Having weathered the turmoil of the war and post-war years, it is now operated as a traditional Japanese inn by the Tachibana family, descendants of the Yanagawa domain lords. Whether you are standing in the grand hall bathed in morning sunlight or gazing at the moon reflected in the pond of Shoto-en, Ohana offers a unique experience of “staying in a historic cultural treasure.”

National Scenic Spot: Tachibana Family Garden

The entire 7,000-tsubo (approx. 23,000㎡) grounds surrounded by canals are designated as a National Scenic Spot under the name “Tachibana Family Garden.”

Rare Modern Japanese Architecture (c. 100 Years Old)

Preserving the appearance of the count’s residence from about 100 years ago—including the Grand Hall, Living Room, Household Bureau (Office), and Gatekeeper’s Post—these buildings are exceptionally rare as existing cultural properties in Japan.

Also on site: Historic site tours, traditional restaurant dining, weddings, and overnight stays—an all-in-one cultural heritage facility.

Dining🍣

The rich Ariake Sea, shaped by Japan’s greatest tidal range, and the fertile Chikugo Plain. Through the culinary culture nurtured in each era, we deliver what we wish to pass on to the next century. Our private dining rooms are the very rooms where Count Tachibana and his family lived during the Meiji era. Please enjoy your meal while gazing out at the garden, designated as a National Scenic Spot. Yanagawa’s specialty, “Steamed Eel in a Bamboo Steamer,” originated in the Edo period and is cherished as a local dish.
