In a calm space that feels like coming home—without pretension or affectation—Misato wishes to remain a “beautiful” and “hometown” where everyone can feel at ease. After completing renovations throughout the entire building, we reopened in the summer of 2024.
Our hot springs are sulfur springs—rare even in Kurokawa Onsen—whose color changes depending on the time of day. The water naturally shifts from transparent to light blue, blue, emerald green, and milky white.
Misato’s hot springs are known as “beauty hot springs” and are also said to be effective for lifestyle-related concerns such as arteriosclerosis, high blood sugar, and high blood pressure. With a high chloride content, the water may help protect the skin from cooling quickly and reduce dryness—making a soak before bed, or as the final stop of your hot spring tour, especially recommended.
Hot spring tour: In Kurokawa Onsen, you can enjoy open-air baths at 25 inns (typically 500–800 yen per location). Admission tickets can be purchased at our front desk, or at each inn or the inn association. Spring quality varies by inn—please refer to the hot spring tour map.
We offer seasonal dishes featuring fresh vegetables from the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) site of Aso, Aso’s red beef, and Kumamoto’s famous horse sashimi.
