A brief guide to hot springs, dining, and travel directions.
About an hour’s drive north from central Kumamoto City, Ueki Onsen—known for its 130-year history—rests in a tranquil landscape surrounded by farmland and the Koshigawa River. Our abundant, silky-smooth waters are renowned as “beauty-enhancing hot springs,” and we are grateful for nature’s blessings every day. Otsuki-en is pleased to celebrate its 30th anniversary. This spring, we renovated part of the main building and reopened. In addition to six detached cottages, we offer a luxurious special suite completed in May 2018 and two Japanese-Western style rooms.
We draw hot spring water directly from underground via our own well on the premises and feed it into our baths. The gentle sulfur spring maintains a pleasant temperature year-round, soothing your daily fatigue from the core. Enjoy both the bath in your room and the water in our large communal bath.
The spring quality is a simple sulfur spring at 43°C (111°F), effective for neuralgia, rheumatism, skin irritation, and fatigue recovery.
Both dinner and breakfast are served in the dining room “Full Moon”. Partitions create a private room-like atmosphere, allowing you to dine leisurely without concern for other guests. Enjoy our monthly changing kaiseki course meals, generously featuring seasonal flavors.
Dining venue: Dining room “Full Moon” (partitioned seating)
