Chishakuin, the head temple of the Shingon Chisan sect, is located in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district. Chishakuin Kaikan is the temple lodging within its grounds.
All guests are welcome to stay.
Chishakuin Kaikan, beloved by guests for nearly 50 years since 1966, has been reborn with a fresh new look due to the aging of the building.
Enjoy a more comfortable stay in our diverse rooms, including Western-style and Japanese-Western hybrid rooms.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the world. Experience the extraordinary: attend the morning service, unchanged for 400 years; receive guided tours of the scenic gardens and the national treasure folding screen paintings by Hasegawa Tōhaku and his school, led by monks.

Breakfast features traditional Japanese cuisine centered around Chishakuin’s signature “Nerogashi” soup, with vegetarian options also available.
The following morning, join the early-rising monks for Chishakuin’s “Morning Service,” experiencing a rare moment beyond the ordinary.

10 minutes by bus from JR Kyoto Station, get off at Higashiyama Shichijo (City Bus routes 206, 208, 100)
Approximately 10 minutes on foot from Keihan Shichijo Station.
