-Facilities -
Just inside the approach to Nanzenji Temple stands Yachiyo, a Kyoto cuisine and garden inn. The main entrance is marked by an impressive large lantern. Passing through the gate, a well-maintained courtyard garden and seasonal flowers welcome guests. The inn consists of a main building and a separate annex. Guest rooms in the main building offer views of the garden by the legendary landscape architect Ogawa Jihei, known as “Ueji,” and the Higashiyama hills colored by the seasons. Passing through an elegant corridor leads to a modern Japanese-style space. The main building, predating Yachiyo’s founding, features a simple, austere sukiya-style architecture modeled after a thatched tea hut. The annex rooms, notable for their Kyoto-style paper walls, offer a refined 12.5-mat Japanese space where families can relax comfortably. This is a small inn with a total of 16 rooms. While not large, we do offer a communal bath. This bath features wood from the Takano matsu pine, considered the finest among the Kiso Five Woods. The Seiryū Garden boasts beautiful seasonal flowers and plants, preserving its original depth with the Higashiyama mountains as a borrowed landscape. It is illuminated every night, inviting you to enjoy its mysterious and profound atmosphere.
