A brief guide to hot springs, dining, and travel directions.
Nestled deep in the mountains of Okuyufu, this spacious inn features eighteen detached guest rooms with private open-air baths spread across a vast 33,000 square meter grounds. Amidst vibrant new greenery, enjoy blissful moments with the gentle murmur of the river, birdsong, and whispering trees as your soundtrack. We named it “Gettoan” (月燈庵), meaning “The Hermitage Enjoying Moonlight.” First to greet guests from the parking lot is the main house, a 300-year-old traditional Japanese home relocated from Yamanashi Prefecture. Its imposing central pillar and intricate network of beams showcase the splendor of Japanese architecture. Guests cross a suspension bridge from the main house to the lodging buildings—an ultimate location to feel the breeze and gaze upon Mount Yufu. The hot spring is an open-air bath where you can soak while feeling the forest and wind of Yufuin envelop your entire body. The majestic Mount Yufu towers before you, and at night, you can gaze upon a sky filled with stars.
