-Facilities-
At Oyamasa, nestled in a land surrounded by satoyama, we strive to provide guests with a relaxed feeling, as if returning to the countryside. Flowers placed throughout the 150 locations within the facility are arranged seasonally, incorporating trees and flowers found everywhere on the grounds, as well as flowers from vegetables grown in our own vegetable garden. The baths are themed after ancient Omi tales: the men’s bath features “Benkei’s Dragging Bell,” while the women’s bath showcases “The Celestial Maiden’s Dance.” The water from the Ogoto Hot Spring source, known for its benefits against neuralgia and for beautiful skin, is richly soft and soothing. The open-air bath offers waterfall showers, jet streams, and a jacuzzi, with views of Lake Biwa through the trees. Other outdoor facilities include a barrel bath and a sauna.
The term “Chikatsu-Aumi” (Near Lake Biwa) and “Ōmi” (Lake Biwa), recorded in the Kojiki, tell the story of how this land flourished centered around Lake Biwa, sustained by the bountiful blessings of water. Throughout the inn, you’ll find touches allowing you to enjoy “Satoyama Tales.” The library features books and videos centered on Shiga Prefecture folk tales, uniquely curated by Oyamasa as “Satoyama Tales,” offering stories that capture the essence of the region.

-Dining-
Shiga Prefecture, surrounded on three sides by mountains and centered around Japan’s largest lake, Lake Biwa, is a treasure trove of distinctive ingredients.
Our chefs meticulously select and prepare each ingredient. Omi beef, alongside Matsusaka and Kobe beef, is counted among Japan’s three great wagyu brands, boasting the longest history. Raised within Shiga’s rich natural environment and abundant water sources, Omi beef features a fine-grained texture, rich flavor, and exceptional tenderness. Its high-quality, sweet fat with a low melting point melts deliciously in your mouth.
